Clarinex

Generic name: Desloratadine

What is generic Clarinex?

Clarinex is a highly effective medication anti allergic medication for adults and children. Clarinex relieves seasonal allergy symptoms such as sneezing, running nose, irritation and redness of the eye mucous lining. Besides, Clarinex is highly effective in relief of indoor allergy symptoms such as allergy to animals, fungi, dust mites, house dust and cockroaches. Clarinex also provides additional anti inflammatory action.  However, generic Clarinex is useless in nasal congestion

How does Clarinex work?

Active substance of generic Clarinex is desloratadine. Clinical trials showed that desloratadine is much more effective as loratadine. Antiallergic properties of Clarinex arise from the blockage the effects of H1 histamine receptors. By blocking these receptors, desloratadine prevents the effects associated with histamine. These effects include widening of the peripheral vessels, spasms of the smooth muscles, lowering of blood pressure, increased permeability of the blood vessels. Due to eliminating these histamine effects, Clarinex exerts expressed anti allergic action.

How Clarinex is taken?

Generic Clarinex is available in the form of tablets for oral administration. Clarinex dosage is usually based on several factors such as patient’s age, indications, health condition, and severity of the symptoms. Concomitant treatment may also affect Clarinex dosage regimen.  Usually the recommended daily dosage is 5 mg. In patients with liver or kidney diseases doctors usually prescribe Clarinex 5mg every other day.
