What is generic Celexa?
Celexa is a medication used for the depression treatment in adults. Celexa oral helps to relieve the symptoms of depression as well as reduces the cases the recrudescence. Celexa is available in the form of tablets. Celexa dosage regimen should be administered only by your doctor. The medication should be used only by health care provider supervision. Celexa may cause some side effects. The most common Celexa side effects are dry mouth, nausea and drowsiness.
How does Celexa work? Celexa oral belongs to a group of medicines called serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Usually the depression is associated with decreased amount of the mediator called serotonin. By inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin Celexa increases the amount of serotonin in the synaptic gap and thereby improves the transneuronal transmission of impulses in the brain. This allows relieving the most common depression symptoms.
How Celexa is taken?
Celexa comes in the form of tablets 10mg, 20 mg and 40mg. Celexa dosage regimes should be specified by your health care provider. Celexa dosage regimen is usually based on the patient's age, severity of the disease, general health condition, and concomitant drug therapy.
Celexa oral can be used with or without food. Take Celexa each day at the same time in order to keep the constant Celexa blood levels.
Celexa precaution and warning!
Celexa oral should not be taken in certain health conditions. Make sure to inform your doctor if any if any of these conditions apply to you: bipolar disorders, suicide thoughts and attempts, cardiovascular diseases (heart attack), seizures or epilepsy, liver and kidney diseases.
Celexa is contraindicated in children.
Celexa should not be taken in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Celexa oral is pregnancy category C meaning that it is unsafe to use it while pregnancy.
Do not take Celexa oral with other antidepressants without consulting your doctor. Celexa may cause serotonin syndrome when used with other serotonin reuptake inhibitors. The possible symptoms of serotonin syndrome may include: confusion, increased heart rate, fever, sweating, diarrhea and difficulty walking.
Do not stop taking Celexa oral on your own initiative. Sudden stop of taking Celexa may cause withdrawal symptoms.
Make sure to consult your doctor if you experience stomach or intestinal bleedings while the treatment with Celexa oral.
Celexa side effects
Like other antidepressants Celexa may cause some side effects in some patients. Usually the side effects of Celexa are not severe and a common for people with hypersensitivity. These Celexa side effects include: nausea, dry mouth, drowsiness, insomnia, increased sweating, tremor, diarrhea and sexual problems. In rare cases side effects of Celexa may result in more significant adverse reactions like suicidal thoughts, anxiety, mood changes, sign of serotonin syndrome, changes in blood pressure, seizures, agitation, abnormal heart rate, coma, tremor, hallucination, insomnia.

Celexa interactions
Celexa oral may interact with some medicines. Make sure to inform your doctor if you take any of Celexa medicines. Celexa oral should not be used in combination with alcohol, aspirin, cimetidine, ketoconazole, beta-blockers(metoprolol), MAO inhibitors, NSAIDS, Serotonin reuptake inhibitors and other antidepressants, triptans(anti migraines medicines), tryptophan, warfarin(blood thinner), tramadol, St.John's wort.
